MSc (Bologna, 1985) and PhD in Chemistry (Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, 1992). CNR (Italy) and DAAD (Germany) fellow (University of Regensburg,1986). Senior Researcher in EniRicerche SpA, Milan (Specialty Polymers, 1990-1995), then Assistant Professor and, since 2007, Associate Professor in Industrial Chemistry and Polymeric Materials (SSD CHEM-04/A )at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, University of Pisa. National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor, SC 03/C2 Industrial and Applied Chemistry. Author of about 120 papers (h=34, >3500 citations), 7 patents and over 200 communications at conferences. Visiting researcher at the University of Massachussets at Amherst (USA), Max Plank Institut für Polymerforschung (Mainz, Germany), Simon Bolìvar (Caracas, Venezuela) and Cadi Ayyad (Marrakech, Morocco) Universities. Adjunct Professor at the Vellore Institute of Technology (India), honorary member of the Asian Polymer Association, member of the Italian INSTM (National Interuniversity Consortium of Materials Science and Technology) and AIM (Italian Association of Science and Technology of Macromolecules). PI or participant in EU (Horizon, FP7, Ecoinnovation), International (JPI Oceans, etc.), National (Italian), Regional (Tuscany), and industry-funded research projects as well as International Cooperation Programmes. Co-founder of the University of Pisa spin off company SPINPET srl. Research interests include controlled polymer synthesis for nanostructured particle dispersions, smart coatings and nanocomposites, polymer modification for recycling, products for cultural heritage conservation, microplastics (presence, degradation and interactions with the environment, impact on human health).
